These Oils Helped Me Get Rid Of My Acne Scars

Whew, dealing with acne is a huge task, you buy tons of products, stick to a regime and possibly make a visit to your dermatologist for prescription medicine. After all that work and money many of us are left with hyperpigmentation- otherwise known as dark spots. I dealt with bad acne in high school and college to add to that, I was a HUGE face picker which left me with dark spots and acne scars. For a while, I was content with wearing make up to conceal my scars from my bad skin picking habit. I soon became annoyed with the feeling that I had to wear makeup every time I left the house. Thus began my journey to heal my scars rather than hide them. I wasn’t interested in prescription topical treatments as I found the ingredients were too harsh. So I took to google and youtube in hopes of finding natural solutions. My search lead me to Essential Oils, I will admit I almost passed on this form of treatment all together thinking oils would clog my pores. As I continued to search for answers I found some essential oils like Tree Tea Oil, can actually help to unclog your pores, making it beneficial for oily and acne prone skin. With this new found knowledge and determination for clearer skin I added essential oils to my skincare, which has completely healed and transformed my skin. Let’s chat about my favorite oils below.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil in my opinion feels more like an astringent than an Oil, its intensely concentrated and can be drying if applied alone. That’s why its important to use a carrier oil when using Tea Tree, my favorite is Jojoba Oil but you can use Almond, Argan or your favorite face oil. Tea tree Oil has anti bacterial properties that help fight off bacteria and fungus - its a great alternative to benzoyl peroxide. I love the tingling sensation this oil leaves my skin with. It’s definitely my holy grail, I like to put a drop of Tea Tree Oil on a cotton ball with rose water and use it as a toner after cleansing.

Jojoba Oil

I’ve been using this oil for a while now, its actually one of the first essential oils I added to my skincare line up. It contains vitamin E ; a nutrient with anti inflammatory properties and is incredibly moisturizing. Its very light and similar to the natural sebum our skin produces, meaning it won’t clog your pores! I love that it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tacky like most oils. Jojoba oil may also promote wound healing making it great for acne scars. Again, pairing this oil with Tree Tea Oil has greatly improved my acne scars and overall complexion.

Turmeric Oil

Turmeric is a root with range, from being used for its anti-inflammatory properties in wellness and health, to its powerful flavor in cooking, theres not much it can’t do. Filled with antioxidants that help reduce redness, and the appearance of scarring, Turmeric also does wonders for the skin. It helps dry out pimples and acts as a antimicrobial, we touch our faces so much through the day exposing our skin to bacteria and fungus, Turmeric helps cancel those acne causing bacteria. This oil will also leave the skin with a radiant glow due to the natural color of the root.

The Fatty acids in Rose Hip help moisturize the skin. It’s also tightens the pores which brightens the skin and gives you a healthy glow.
