Finding the perfect pair of jeans takes time and patience- you can literally try on a dozen pairs before finding one that you love. With so many brands, fits, washes, styles, etc., the task can quickly become overwhelming. Here at OTH, we consider ourselves professional denim wearers, we know our fit (high-rise, cropped, room for hips, plus makes the booty look good) and it’s unlikely that we stray from what we love. We have our old faithful brands that never do us wrong but we also enjoy finding new denim brands to love. We hope this guide will cut some of the frustration out of your search for the perfect pair, we know once you find that curve-hugging match nothing will be the same.

MOTHER

Mother Denim has been my go-to brand for years now. I discovered this brand during my time at Nordstroms working in the denim department. I worked with many brands during my four years and I consider myself a denim expert, so believe me when I say Mother is the best of the best. The fit and style options are expansive, with over 150+ options of all different rises, fits, washes, fly openings, and hemlines there is something for everyone. When looking for jeans I love a high rise where the waistband meets just below the smallest part of my tummy- for me the best rise measurement is between 10.5 in-11 in. The brand’s “Superior” denim collection offers rigid denim that has stretch I enjoy the sturdy feel of denim but love the added stretch for more flex around curves. With that Mother has unlocked the secret sauce for denim making. This brand is ideal for women with wider hips and butt and a small waist. My favorite fits from Mother are: The High-Waisted Looker, The Dazzler, and The Hustler Ankle Fray.

FRAME

Frame is a great denim brand- in my opinion, they developed the best skinny jeans and have the brightest-looking white jeans ever! Frame denim scream luxury their jeans have an amazing feel all while allowing you to feel supported, no bag out ladies! One of my favorite jeans ever is from Frame and when I outgrew them this year due to extra quarantine pounds I was so sad- the Le Original fit is amazing! It’s a vintage-inspired high-rise jean made out of rigid denim that looks so good on the body. Fall is upon us and coated jeans will be back in season and a little tip Frame carries the best of those options. The fits I love from Frame are Le High Skinny Crop, Ali High Rise Cigarette, Le Crop Mini Boot & Le Original.

Levi

A no-brainer denim brand with a smaller price tag than the previous mentions Levi’s houses good ol’ fashion denim. Levi’s holds perhaps the most classic denim style in their 501’s option that fits like a dream especially when you get them tailored to your body measurements. What I enjoy most about Levi’s is that the brand feels familiar, the jeans they sell today are the jeans you grew up wearing and your parents wore. My hope for the brand is that they continue to grow into more modern styles and continue to grow with their younger audience. But for the price and quality Levi’s can’t beat. My faves are 501, Ribcage Straight Ankle, Wedgie Fit Ankle, and 720 High Rise Super Skinny.

Zara

I think just about everyone knows this but Zara has a really good denim selection. Their fits are absolutely amazing! They have so many different options to choose from trend-wise: split hems, super flare legs, embellished, etc. If you are looking for jeans and want to hit a place with a large variety I suggest you start your journey here, you can find a pair that best fits you easily. I will say that the sizing varies so I suggest trying on multiple sizes. Two of my favorite jeans at the moment are from Zara the price was lovely and the fit was fire, I wear them all the time!

AG

AG has amazing denim! The feel is unmatched- they fit like a charm all while feeling cozy. AG makes really sleek formfitting jeans like their Farrah Skinny, which is truly a work of art. This is a brand that will grow with you, at any age, you’ll love what this brand has to offer. They also carry the best boyfriend jean in the Ex-Boyfriend Slim fit jeans. What I love about AG are its many different wash options. They use a unique wash-down process that mimics a pair of vintage jeans- look for the colors that have years attached (ie. a color with 8 years in front is supposed to mimic the fade of a pair of jeans you’d have for 8 years) the fade is beautiful! My go-to fits are Farrah Skinny, Isabelle, and Phoebe.
